Three tips that take the drag out of your morning

Do you wake up dreading your day? Sometimes I do, too. We’re all stressed juggling classes, homework, jobs, and learning how to walk into adulthood. Here are some tips that will motivate your mornings and jumpstart your day.

1.  Wake up earlier

Yes, earlier. Get rid of the daily “snooze” dilemma. When the alarm goes off, put those two feet on the ground! Best-selling author Mel Robbins — one of the most popular motivational speakers in the wellness industry — wrote a book about a five-second rule that can help you hop out of bed without hesitation.

Simple: Within five seconds of your alarm, get out of bed. A study conducted at the University of Texas found that students who consistently woke up early each day scored better on tests and did better in their overall performance.

2.  Get motivated

Start your day motivated. Bump up your rush hour by listening to a motivational professional like Eric Thomas on your way to school.

Eric Thomas started off as a YouTube influencer and has now become a world-renowned speaker, educator, pastor, and author. His speeches have guided many to the next level of success. A few motivational minutes can mold a stressful day into a positive one.

Professor and researcher Brené Brown also has some great podcasts about gratitude, vulnerability, and courage.

3.  Get moving

If you are up earlier, you can work out earlier! Who needs four cups of coffee when you have killer endorphins flowing through your body?

According to the American Psychological Association, exercise can relieve stress, reduce depression, and improve cognitive function. Exercising first thing in the morning can jump-start your day by giving your body a rush and your mind some clarity.
